This Cookie Policy explains how Anansi Technologies Limited ("Anansi", "we", "our" or "us") uses cookies and similar technologies on anansitechnology.com. It should be read together with our Privacy Policy, which explains how we handle your personal data under the Kenya Data Protection Act, 2019.
1. What are cookies?
Cookies are small text files placed on your device when you visit a website. They help the site work, remember your choices and understand how it is used. Similar technologies, such as your browser's localStorage, work in much the same way, and we refer to them all as "cookies" in this Policy.
2. Cookies we use
| Category | Name | Provider | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| Strictly necessary | cookie_consent | Anansi | Remembers your cookie choices so we do not ask you on every visit | 12 months |
| Functional | anansi_sacco_type (cookie and localStorage) | Anansi | Remembers whether you identified as a growth-stage or an established SACCO so we can personalise the content shown | Up to 1 year |
| Analytics | _ga, _ga_<container ID> | Google Analytics | Measures page views, traffic patterns and how visitors use the site | Up to 2 years |
Our own analytics event logging (page views, button clicks and card selections) is stored in our database and does not rely on advertising cookies.
We do not use advertising or cross-site tracking cookies, and we do not sell data collected through cookies.
3. Your choices and consent
- Strictly necessary cookies do not need your consent because the site cannot work properly without them.
- Functional and analytics cookies are only set after you give consent through the cookie banner shown on your first visit. Analytics cookies are off until you accept them.
- You can accept all, reject non-essential cookies, or choose by category. Rejecting non-essential cookies will not stop you from using the website.
- You can change or withdraw your consent at any time through the "Cookie settings" link in the website footer. Withdrawing consent does not affect the lawfulness of anything done before you withdrew it.
4. Managing cookies in your browser
You can also block or delete cookies in your browser settings. Doing so may mean the site forgets your preferences, and you may need to set your choices again on your next visit. To opt out of Google Analytics across all websites, you can install Google's Analytics opt-out browser add-on.
5. Third-party cookies
Google Analytics is operated by Google, which may process data outside Kenya. Google handles that data under its own privacy policy. We have configured Analytics to anonymise IP addresses and not share data with Google for advertising purposes. We do not control third-party cookies, so please refer to the provider's policy for details.
6. Changes to this Policy
We may update this Cookie Policy when we change the cookies we use or when the law changes. The "Last updated" date at the top shows the latest version. If we make material changes, we will ask for your consent again where the law requires it.
